For the past three years the ACCESS Open has gathered local Real Estate professionals and affiliated partners to raise money for Folds of Honor. This year we reached our goal of raising $125,000 for Folds of Honor, supporting 25 scholarships for the recipient families. We are blown away by the generosity of our community in supporting this tournament, including 42 sponsors and 196 golfers, and we are thankful for the opportunity to share the mission of Folds of Honor with the participants and organizations present.
Our day started with learning about the Folds of Honor mission from Michelle Landes, Regional Impact Officer, and the positive influence this event has on recipients’ families. With a mission to provide educational scholarships to spouses and children of America’s fallen and disabled service-members and first responders since 2007, Folds of Honor has awarded over 44,000 scholarships, with 90% of donated funds going directly to scholarships.
This year the Folds of Honor veteran speaker was United States Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Michael Lammey, who served our country honorably for over nine years during Operation Enduring Freedom. In 2006, PO1 Lammey was working aboard the U.S.S Frank Cable when the boiler on the ship was damaged and exploded, leaving Lammey with 3rd degree burns to forty-eight percent of his body. He has been a member of the Folds of Honor Speaker’s Bureau since 2019.
Stone Creek Golf Course once again proved to be an amazing venue for our golf tournament. With a little competition and a lot of fun, we enjoyed getting to meet Real Estate professionals from all over our community. We’re grateful to our sponsors, participants and supporters who made this event possible and who helped support an organization that’s close to the heart of our company. We’re thankful for continued support for all three ACCESS Open events. Through these tournaments, we have raised a total of $275,000 that went directly toward scholarships for spouses and families.
